Asus ROG Phone 9/9 Pro review

The Taiwanese company’s newest gaming smartphones, the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro and ROG Phone 9, were unveiled on Tuesday. A Snapdragon 8 Elite CPU, up to 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage power the new ROG Phone series. The Asus ROG Phone 9 series features IP68-rated construction and AMOLED screens. They have three cameras on the back, with a 32-megapixel selfie camera and a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 sensor at the top.

Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 9 Price

Prices for the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage option of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro start at EUR 1,200, or around Rs. 1,00,000. The Asus Phone 9 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at EUR 1,099, or around Rs. 98,000. The only 24GB RAM + 1TB storage version of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition costs EUR 1,500, or approximately Rs. 1,33,000.
Phantom Black and Storm White are the available finishes for the Asus ROG Phone 9. For the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition and ROG Phone 9 Pro, only the former is offered.

Asus ROG Phone 9 Series Specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Asus ROG Phone 9 series phones include a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixel) Samsung AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz and compatibility for HDR10. They are powered by the ROG UI, which is based on Android 15. The display is said to have a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits and supports Always-On. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip powers the ROG Phone line. The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition has 1TB of UFS4.0 storage and 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Both the ROG 9 Pro and the vanilla model have up to 512GB of storage and a maximum of 16GB of RAM. For thermal control, they make use of the business’s own ROG GameCool 9 cooling technology.

With a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 1/1.56-inch sensor with f1/9 aperture and a 13-megapixel super wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, the Asus ROG Phone 9 phones offer a triple back camera configuration for taking pictures and videos. While the firm has included a 5-megapixel macro camera on the standard ROG Phone 9, the ROG Phone 9 Pro sports a 32-megapixel sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom.

The ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro both have a 32-megapixel RGBW camera with 1.4µm binning on the front. A number of AI functions are supported by the camera unit, such as AI Object Sense and AI HyperClarity.

5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, GNSS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, and USB Type-C port are among the connectivity choices available on the Asus ROG Phone 9 series. An accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope, e-compass, ambient light sensor, and air trigger are among the sensors installed on board. They have a face recognition capability and an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication.

 The Asus ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 99 Pro are equipped with a 5,800mAh battery that supports 65W wired and 15W wireless charging. According to the company, the fast-charging technology can fully charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 46 minutes. The battery life is impressive, offering up to 22.1 hours of video streaming and up to 23.4 hours of social media usage on platforms like Instagram. Additionally, both phones feature an IP68-rated design for dust and water resistance.
